The LRJC was founded in 2015 by a small group of people who participated in a Catholic event about immigration in Baltimore. Since then, the group has expanded to include members of different faith traditions and members who are not religiously affiliated. As of 2022, the LRJC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (public charity) promoting community development through immigrant integration.
